        We are going to tell you all about our day.  Our day is very busy--so you will be learning about what we do at school.

• When we come into the classroom we do our Morning Steps and Bellwork.  This means we must read and follow directions.

 

• The Morning Steps are taped to our desks. The Bellwork is on the Smart Board. The Morning Steps get us ready for the day.  The Bellwork tells us what school work to start to prepare for learning.

 

• Three days a week we have Morning Meeting.  This typically happens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

 

• Every day we have Language Arts.  Language Arts involves Word Work, Reading Teams, Writing Workshop, IB Journals, Reading Pals, Handwriting, and Inquiry Folders.  Click here to view a short video about Reading PALS.

 

• We also have Math every day.  We have Math Pals twice a week (Tuesdays & Wednesdays) with Mrs. Eagleton's class.  We also go to the Computer Lab every Monday to work on the Success Maker program.  Our Math books are called "Everyday Mathematics."  We work on workbook pages, play lots of games, and use the Smart Board 4 days a week (Tuesdays - Fridays). Our favorite Math games are: Double Dog, Penny Plate Game, Hula Hoop Function, Powerful 10, Broken Calculator, and Top It.

 

• We are an IB school.  We each have an IB Binder that holds our papers and supplies.  We have 6 IB units.  They are: Who We Are, How We Express Ourselves, Sharing the Planet, How We Organize Ourselves, Where We Are in Place & Time, and How the World Works. These units cover our Social Studies and Science lessons.  We sometimes use the Smart Board during IB lessons.  We are life long learners who demonstrate the IB Learner Attributes and Attitudes. Our favorite attributes & attitudes are: caring, thinker, Open-Minded, Balanced, Risk-Taker, empathy, and respect.

 

• we have Choice Time everyday.  Students get choice time for good behavior and for completing work.  If you have a 2 or less on your Power Calendar, you don't get Choice Time.  If you don't finish work you have to pay the price....(finish it during Choice Time at the Reading Table.)
